I've been working crazy since November of last year and hence I've been abandoning my blog. I thought I deserve a week's break from Toronto, so my friends and I flew down to Florida for a 6-day vacation in Orlando and Miami two weeks ago. We spent majority of the time on the beach and just 2 days of shopping. I didn't do much shopping. I expected great deals but I couldn't find much. We went to the two Orlando Premium Outlets and a store called Ross Dress for Less. If you haven't heard of Ross Dress for Less, it's just like Marshalls and Winners but with way better and affordable prices. You'd be able to find brands like Nine West, Michael Kors (bags), Coach, Ralph Lauren, etc. Any Torontonians planning to shop in the states, I'd recommend this store - look up for a closeby one.

2013 Trip to Florida
I've been working crazy since November of last year and hence I've been abandoning my blog. Shiseido & Nars Warehouse Sale - May 2013 Haul
After visiting the Shiseido and NARS warehouse sale more than 3 times, I've come to realize there isn't much I need anymore from this sale. I've stopped going to this sale on Saturday. I'd rather come on Sundays when the waiting line is much shorter.
By the time I got to the sale this morning - before 9AM, the warehouse was already letting people in. I probably waited in line for about 10 - 15 minutes. I didn't need much so I just pick up some body butters, a NARS multiple, an Orlane anti-fatigue masque, and, Shiseido Benefiance day and night cream for my mom. I was out of there before 10AM. It was less than an hour shopping where I spent $163.85 CAD.
Joico Skin Luxe Body Butter in Pink Vanilla - $4 each
I think these are steal deal. Body butters are The Body Shop are usually at least $10 per jar. So for $4 per jar, I'd think it's a good deal. However, if you're looking for super hydrating body butters for dry skin, these are probably not what you're looking for. I believe these body butters are for normal skin.
NARS Multiple in Beverly Hills - $15
I love this rosy red colour. Can't wait to try it out.
Orlane Absolute Skin Recovery Masque - $30
They had an anti-fatigue serum that my mom wanted me to get but they didn't have any at this sale so I resorted to the masque.
Shiseido Benefiance Daytime Protective Cream SPF15 and Revitalizing Cream - $38 each
Shiseido's day and night cream for super dry skin. Bought it for my mom. I guess this is her mother day's gift. =)

The Bay Friends and Family Sale
Anyone Torontonians know of the Bay sale? It's 20% off any regular priced item if you use their HBC credit card or 15% off if you use other method of payments. Now even though The Bay always have these random sales when you use their HBC credit card, it was never an attractive sale to me since I never find the brands I like in the Bay. BUT they've definitely took it to my next level when I saw brands like Sam Edelman, Sperrys and Uggs. I actually picked up a pair of Sperrys Originals. Its original price was $110 and with 20% off as well as tax, it came to $99.44 CAD. Great deal I guess.

Sasa.com Haul
1. Haruhada Collagen Moisture Skin Lotion - $13.20 USD
This is a 500 mL bottle of lotion. For $13.20, I think it's definitely worth it. I've read some reviews, seems like it's a great quality and price product so I just could not miss out on this.
2. Kose Softymo White Cleansing Oil - $10.40 USD
It's summer and it's relatively hard to keep your skin free of sunspots so I'm clearly trying to stock up my skincare on items that could help prevent them. How can I miss out a cleansing oil that whitens your skin?
3. Hiruscar - $16.90 USD
This is the most expensive item I bought from this order. This little tube of product cost more than my 500 mL bottle of lotion! I hope it'll live up to what it claims to do, which is to eliminate or minimize the appearance of scars.
Looks familiar? Yup! I'm repurchasing this. I'm nearly finished using up the bottle of Marcelle toner that I bought from Lisa's Cosmetics. Since I loved this results of this product so much, I've decided to restock on it. =)
5. Kose Moisture Mild White Milky Lotion L - $14.10 USD
Yes, another whitening product. A lotion I can use as day moisturizer. Another product with 4 out of 5 stars review from Sasa customers. So I'm going to put this to the test.

Review: Kose Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil
After my discovery of cleansing oils, I've grown to love using them. As a matter of fact, I've began researching and testing out different ones to find the best one. Until now, I still have a great love for Bobbi Brown's Cleansing Oil. I haven't found one that could beat it. But as I'm still on an adventure to find one that can beat its quality effectiveness and price, I have another review to write on this deep cleansing oil.
Consistency: Feels oily but not its consistency. Its consistency is not thick at all.
Application: I usually take 3 to 5 pumps with dry hands to massage into my skin and remove all the makeup.
Packaging: It's got a pump. Packaging came with a pump stopper.
What it claims:
- Dissolves makeup and remove impurities in pores
- Cuticle-clear ingredient helps remove dead cuticles, leaving skin purified and refreshed
Thoughts / Results:
Well, this cleansing oil isn't one of the best I've used. Actually the last bottle of PDC Celdie Makeup Removal Oil was a better cleansing oil than this one. I find it takes more product and longer massaging and rubbing into my skin to remove the makeup, especially eye makeup. The product doesn't break me out but its efficiency score is pretty low. It claims to remove impurities in pores, leaving skin purified but I'm sad to feel it doesn't. I've experimented with removing eyeliners with this product and it managed to fade away the liners but not remove them completely. Well, I won't be finding myself repurchasing this product.
Cost: $ 11.00 USD ($ 12.90 USD before the 15% off promotion on Sasa.com)
Product: Kose Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil
Rating: 2 / 5
Pros:
- Removes makeup with significant use of product and massaging into skin
Cons:
- Not an efficient product
Eyeliner with the cleansing oil
Cleansing oil massaged into skin to remove the liner
Rinsed with water, the liner is slightly still visible.

Review and Comparison: Koji Spring Heart Liquid Eyeliner (Black) and Sana Super Quick Eyeliner EX (Black)
![]() |
Sana Super Quick Eyeliner EX
Koji Spring Heart Eyeliner
I'm currently in the midst of trying different liquid eyeliner and test out which is the best. What do I look for in an eyeliner? Easy application (glides on), minimal smudging, highly pigmented, and long-lasting. Well here are the two that I've bought from Sasa.com and tried.
Application: "Slowly draw a line along the base of the upper lashes, start form tip to tail. Finish by drawing an upward line at outer corner of eye." - Koji
"Draw a line with the liquid eyeliner at the roots of eyelashes from the corner of the eye to the end of the eye." - Sana
Packaging: Both liners are felt-tip pens. The Sana liner seems to have a shaker inside that helps break up the product while Koji one doesn't have one.
What it claims:
Koji:
- A super fine tip to help you line your eyes.
Sana:
- Draws an extremely thin, waterpoof and vivid eye lines.
- Fills in gap between eyelashes
- Waterproof formula is strongly sweat-resistant, tear-resistant and sebum-resistant
Thoughts / Results:
The Koji liquid eyeliner is relatively hard to apply. Its tip doesn't easily get soaked with the ink. It's relatively hard to draw a winged eye with this liner. The good thing about this product was the long-lasting effect it's formula has and pigmentation. After a full day's worth of wearing this product, it doesn't smudge. It takes quite some time rubbing to remove with cleansing oil. When using plain simple water to remove this liner, it is noticeable that it's wearing off but not fading. It has a great colour payoff. But honestly, I wouldn't repurchase this product as it doesn't glide on properly.
Now onto the Sana liner. It applies really well. Glides on easily, and I can create a clear, clean winged eye. Now the downside of this liner is its long-lasting effect. It smudges. The colour fades away. So really, its waterproof formula doesn't hold up to what it claims. By the end of day, I'd have panda eyes. Now I can semi-prevent that the panda eyes if I lightly dust some translucent powder over top the liner after application in the morning. It is easily removable using cleansing oil.
Cost: Koji Spring Heart Liquid Eyeliner ($ 8.40 USD); Sana Super Quick Eyeliner EX ($ 11.20 USD)
Product: Koji Spring Heart Liquid Eyeliner and Sana Super Quick Eyeliner EX
Rating: 2 / 5 (Koji) and 4 / 5 (Sana)
Pros:
Koji:
- long lasting
Sana:
- Glides on easily
- Fine felt tip
- Easy to manipulate
Cons:
Koji:
- Product does not get to the tip
- Hard to draw fine lines
- Hard to manipulate
Sana:
- Not resistant to sweat and water
- Smudges throughout the day
Thin line drawn with each liner using the felt tips: Sana (Top) and Koji (Bottom)
3 strokes of each liner: Sana Super Quick Eyeliner EX (top) and Koji Spring Heart Liquid liner (bottom)
Soaked with water
Rubbed off with water
Rubbed with cleansing oil
After the use of water, rubbing and cleansing oil. Sana liner has faded but Koji liner is still intact with sign of wearing off.

Review: OMI Solanoveil SPF 50+ PA+++ White UV Cut Lotion Suncare
The scent: None
Consistency: Very watery.
Packaging: A 40mL bottle. It's got a piping nozzle which makes it a bit easier to control how much product you want.
What it claims:
- Has a moisturizing relief effect that helps protect skin from UV rays and nourishes skin at the same time
- Non-greasy texture and easy to glide-on
- Waterproof and sweatproof
- Improves large pores and dull skin tone, giving you a natural sheen
- Weak acidity, no colorant
- For sensitive skin
- Can be used as make-up base
Thoughts / Results:
This really is a great product. It's scent-free, meaning there's no sunscreen scent which I love. Its whitening effects are visible after 5 minutes of application. It's got a non-greasy formula, unlike the Shiseido sunscreen that bothers me. The product does glide right on to my skin and blends in so well. I haven't tried using it as a make-up base alone, I usually apply my regular foundation primer over the sunscreen and it works well. As for the quantity you get from this product, it only has 40 mL but it's lasted me at least 6 months. I guess they give so little product because it has to be kept fresh. Honestly, for the price and quality of this product, it's definitely worth a try. Plus, it's got a high SPF.
Cost: $7.10 USD
Product: OMI Solanoveil SPF 50+ PA+++ White UV Cut Lotion
Rating: 5 / 5
Pros:
- Unlike the Shiseido sunscreen, this product is actually fragrance-free, not even that typical sunscreen scent.
- Great price
- Great moisturizing and whitening effects
- High SPF
- Product is not wasted at the nozzle tip like the Shiseido sunscreen packaging.
Cons:
- None that I can think of.

Review: Koji Spring Heart Long and Curl Mascara
This Koji Spring Heart Long and Curl Mascara is the first Japanese mascara I've used and I must say, its quality is very impressive. Why? Because this waterproof mascara keeps my eyelashes curled for at least 8 hours without smudging. I must say, if you've never tried this mascara before, definitely give it a try!
Packaging: The mascara has a curled spooly for easy use and better curls.
What it claims:
- Long-lasting, waterproof mascara that won't irritate sensitive eyes
- Adds volume and curl to lashes, highlighting and beautifying eyes with every swipe
- Ingredients in the mascara won't dry out your eyelashes
Thoughts / Results:
As I've said before, this is a really impressive mascara that gives great results. After 8 hours of wearing this mascara, I come home without any trace of smudged or flaky mascara. Therefore it holds up to its claim for a long-lasting and non-drying formula. And in terms of its volumizing and curling effects, I find that even after 8 hours of wearing this mascara, the lashes stay separated and curled.
However, this mascara does not extend the look of your lashes. So if you're looking to get a mascara to make your lashes look longer, this might not be your choice.
Product: Koji Spring Heart Long and Curl Mascara
Rating: 5 / 5
Pros:
- Keeps lashes curled with volume all day and night
- Has a non-drying and long-lasting formula
- Separates the lashes really well, defining the eyes
Cons:
- Nothing I can think of

As I'm sitting on my bed with a glass of wine...
Today is just a day I need to have a glass of wine. I came home from work and remembered I have a bottle of wine sitting in my fridge. What better night to sip a glass of wine and write up on my blog than tonight. In the meantime, I'm dealing with this eBay buyer who made up some retard excuse that she lost her bank card and can't pay for one of my items she won. Does she honestly think I'm that stupid? HELLO? This is honestly the second time an eBay bidder has backed out of a 'won' item, claiming SOMETHING happened to their bank card. Seriously, it's bull shaaat! Like if you've got buyer's remorse, just man up - DON'T waste time - and say you no longer want it. This freakin' a-hole tells me she doesn't want the item FOUR days after the listing has ended. I've been sending her freakin' invoices almost EVERY day. Like HELLO? Then she tells me she lost her bank card and it's not "fair" to me to keep me waiting for her payment until her bank sends her new account information. Bull-shaaat! HA, I still reported her to eBay.

Interesting things at work
Yesterday, I'm working at the clinic and I have a random walk-in patient who asks me to sell him contact lenses. He had no prescription note with him, wanted a box of Bausch and Lomb contact lenses and just verbally tells me his prescription, so I explained to him. I need a valid, physical prescription on a piece of paper signed off by an optometrist to sell you a box of contact lenses. So then he asks me 'Why? In my home country, we don't need a prescription to buy contact lenses.' OH MY GOSH! The WORST thing to be telling me is "in my HOME country". I just smiled at him and said "Yeah, well, in CANADA, an optometrist office cannot LEGALLY sell you contact lenses WITHOUT a prescription." Like honestly, you're living in Canada, you have rights but you also have to follow Canada's law. How hard is that? If you're so unsatisfied by that, then go back to your home country! When he brought up his HOME country, I just could not stop smiling. So anyways, I told him that if I sold him those contact lenses in the prescription he tells me, he's just prescribing his own prescription, now what is the purpose of an eye doctor when you can write up your own prescription? What a joke! *sigh* Oh and besides finding myself talking to an ignorant person, he didn't even KNOW what type of Bausch and Lomb contact lenses he wanted. There are various Bausch and Lomb contact lenses but all he told me was the brand, Bausch and Lomb. He couldn't give me specifically what type. There was NO way I could figured out what contact lenses he wanted. *sigh*

Colour Contact Lenses
I know colour contact lenses have been a big hit accessory in the past few years. I mean, even I was looking into getting a pair for myself to try. But honestly, as attractive as colour contact lenses can make you be, medically speaking, people should be aware of the risks you are taking on when purchasing from these online vendors or putting the lenses in your eye. These online vendors are really no different from street vendors that sell you pretty looking colour contacts. They will NOT be reliable for your consequent eye conditions or - in severe cases - blindness if anything happens to you.
I'm bringing this issue up because I work in an eye care clinic and I'm very shocked by the amount of teenagers that walk into the clinic asking me if I sell colour contacts and they want a pair without prescriptions. They just don't understand your eyes need to be fitted into a proper pair of contacts. Contacts come in different sizes and thickness, not everyone's eyes are the same size so obviously, not every contact lens will be the same size. It's not an one-size-fits-all shirt. Colour contact lenses are really no different from plain contact lenses. You STILL need to have an eye exam and a contact lens fitting so that the optometrist can find you a pair of contacts that sits comfortably in your eyes. A contact lens that's too small for your eye will cause irritation. Wearing your contacts for too long may cause dryness in the eye and always taking those eyedrops - in the long run - is NOT a good idea. Comparatively speaking, wearing a pair of contact lenses for over 8 hours is much like covering your breathing airways with a plastic wrap and not letting you breathe.
Anyways, now that you know a little more about contact lenses, it's better to ask your optometrist or just research a bit more about them before putting your money down.

Glad we've made to year 2013! *Yay* I hope everyone who has made a resolution for the new year has been keeping up with it.

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas everyone!
I finally have the time off from my busy working schedule to spend some time writing on my blog! Sad to say, it's not a white Christmas. =( But it really is the best time of the year to be giving. =)

Review: PDC Celdie Make Up Removal Oil (Sea Salt)
The scent: Smells like dish detergent.
Consistency: Transparent liquid. Not a thick consistency.
Application: I find using 3 pumps covers or removes the makeup. Massage the oil all over facial skin. During the makeup removal process, rubbing the oil against your skin will turn the liquid, transparent oil into a milky solution. I find it even works for the eye makeup. Finally rinse off with water.
What it claims: "PDC Celdie Make Up Removal Oil (Sea Salt) can deeply remove skin's impurities, make-up and dead skin cells, leaving you a vivid, clear glow."
Thoughts / Results:
Like I said before, this product is comparable to Bobbi Brown's Cleansing Oil. Well, besides the strong dish detergent scent. I find it does do its job, removing all my facial makeup, including eye makeup. It does leave a clean skin after-feel but not necessarily the 'clear glow'.
I love the packaging, specifically the pump. I find using a pump to get the amount of product I want is more hygienic and precise.
Cost: $10 USD @Sasa.com
Product: PDC Celdie Make Up Removal Oil (Sea Salt)
Rating: 4.5 / 5
Pros:
- Does an excellent job on makeup removal
Cons:
- Has a strong dish detergent scent

Oh, the fun stuff at work
My manager once told me that our store has so much drama going on that we could probably air an interesting reality show. Not only drama between the employees but also with customers.
Like today, two girls walk into the store while my manager stepped out. They brought in two pairs of the same style of flats and explained to me they bought the flats less than 3 weeks ago. Even though the store's return policy is 2 weeks, I asked to see the flats and the receipt. One of the girls was doing all the talking so she pulls out the flats and shows me the rubber soles were ripped from the fabric and one of them had rubber soles split into two. I looked at the flats and in no way were they worn just for walking. She tells me over 3 times that they were bought less than 3 weeks ago. I insisted on seeing the receipt and she tells me she no longer has it. So I tell her there's nothing I can do without a receipt. For a good 5 minutes, I was just listening to her telling me she bought those flats less than 3 weeks ago. I had no idea what she wanted from me so I - without sugarcoating anything - asked her "What's your point? What are you trying to tell me?" She called me rude. Ok, so she didn't understand what I was saying, I had to rephrase that for her, "What do you want me to do? What do you want from me?" ... Can you guess it? She wanted her money back or store credit. Oh wow, how many times did she need me to tell her? I can't do anything for her without a receipt. Then she tells me she works in retail too and she knows how it works and you can get store credit or exchange merchandise. Right and it's because of YOUR type of people who likes to play around with this system that makes prices increase every year! So she asked me if my manager was in and I told her to come back in a bit and they can directly talk to my manager. My manager comes back and the girls come by again speaking to my manager. They show my manager the flats and she asks them for a receipt. And what did my manager tell her? The same thing I told them! They try to tell my manager that retail stores allow the returning of worn merchandise without a receipt, just so the customer is satisfied. One of the girls told my manager she works at Marshalls - seriously? Then go buy your shoes from Marshalls. And just for the record, no, you can't return ANY merchandise to ANY store with NO receipt and NON-RESELLABLE condition, especially when you're well past the grace period. If I wasn't working there at that moment and just an ordinary customer, I would've straight up asked her "where were YOU when you had your training at Marshalls?" If you try to cheat the system, you should at least know the rules. Companies don't come up with return/exchange policies just so customers can violate them.
There are so many unreasonable customers out there that would probably bring back dollar store items to the dollar store to get a refund. And don't get me wrong, I value every penny I make, it's just that I understand "you get what you pay for".

Latest update and purchases
To my dearest blog readers,
Now moving on...
The one thing I like about Marshalls and its sister companies are their uniqueness. Shopping in there is like shopping in a large boutique store. It may be annoying, frustrating and a lot of clothes to select from but you can find things that is unique to your style. Their summer season clothes are on clearance and I happen to find these dresses. I was thinking of throwing a cardigan over these, and maybe a belt.
3. La Roche-Posay Nutritic Lips - $13 CAD
A few months ago, my lips were so dry that I had to see the doctor to figure what was wrong with me. My doctor wrote up a prescription for a medicated cream and told me to buy this chap stick after I finish the cream. I was skeptical about purchasing this, since the reviews on MakeUpAlley weren't that great but my lips seemed to be growing worse again so I bought this 2 weeks ago and have been applying it as often as I remember. Luckily, it is working. My lips are feeling hydrated, so I'm definitely writing a full review on this later. ;)
I apologize for the lack of posts and for slacking off in the past 2 months. I've been working hard for the extra pocket money so it's been hard for me to keep my blog updated. But now that I have two jobs, I might update my blog on dramas that happen almost everyday! A girl at one of my two jobs has been jealous of me lately and she's been making up these rumours about me -- an act of a 'bully'. The only reason I haven't confronted her yet is because I haven't past my three-month probation. Though my manager has told me I don't have to wait for the three months to end and I can say whatever I please. But I'd like to secure my job status before I make a move. And I'm super excited for the coming of November as I will step out of my shadow and show her some of my true colours. =) So November's update should be pretty interesting ;)
Now moving on...
Here's a few of my recent purchases that I'd like to share / recommend.
1. Tory Burch Robinson Envelope Continental Wallet in Pretty Violet - $250 CAD
I'm absolutely lovin' this wallet. You can keep a few cards, some bills and change. I've been laying off the credit cards lately so I try to keep minimal cards in my wallet.
2. Marshall purchases - $19 CAD each

When summer comes, I tend to hide indoors or in the shade because I tan. So this year, I chose to use these products to help whiten my skin and avoid a tan. My intentions of purchasing these products was to maintain a lighter skin tone and try to diminish the appearance of my sunspots.
The scent: Fragrance-free for both products.
Consistency: Like any other toner, this toner is clear and liquidy. The lotion is opaque white and somewhat liquidy.

Thoughts / Results:
I am more than half way done both bottles and I must say, they do whiten my skin. The texture of my skin does feel soft. I do get smooth, glowy look on my skin before makeup application in the morning. My skin is still in the process of recovering from my "breakout" phase, so I wouldn't say my skin so soft.
I do feel it's controlled or impeded the formation of sunspots or melanin. But I'm not sure whether it's lighten the spots because if I discontinue using it, the spots will just darken again. So I've come to believe the toner and lotion are a temporary fix.
